A Dictionary of Fundamental Terms in Scientific Publishing and Editing
OJOP Accreditation Board started the project of preparing a dictionary of Scientific Publishing terms.

The workflow and steps for the planned dictionary, to be published by OJOP, were established during the initial meeting. In this context, it was proposed to name the dictionary “Scientific Publishing and Editorial Basic Terms Dictionary / Bilimsel Yayıncılık ve Editörlük Temel Terimler Sözlüğü“ Furthermore, it was agreed that, as an outcome of the project, the dictionary would also be published in article format with the title “From Manuscript to Publication: A Dictionary of Scientific Journal Terminology / Makaleden Yayına: Bilimsel Dergi Terminolojisi Sözlüğü”
The systematic structure of the dictionary will consist of two main sections. It was decided that these sections would be organized as follows:
- Alphabetical, term-based content
- Bilingual format (English-Turkish / Turkish-English), with Turkish in the first section and English in the second.
The dictionary will be available in digital format, through a subscription system, and as a printed edition. Additionally, the distribution of tasks related to the content will be structured under the categories of “language-based, letter-based, and field-specific editorial roles.” It has also been decided that all terms will be managed by the field editors according to their respective scientific disciplines.
Consensus was reached to manage the patent and copyright processes in coordination with legal counsel. The potential outcomes of the project also include workshops, seminars, project development, and the preparation of articles.
Finally, necessary evaluations and detailed planning were conducted regarding the timeline, schedule, and sharing mechanisms to guide the systematic development of the dictionary.
